However, it involves technical difficulties in interpretation and set-up, and high-cost instrumentation and programs, which can limit its use in research and in clinics. One of the most rigorous and scientifically validated systems used in kinematic analysis is the three-dimensional 3D motion analysis laboratory, which provide very accurate data. The study of kinematics is required given the need to objectify human movement in various fields, including sports management analysis, clinical research, footwear, and orthopedics, in order to obtain quantifiable data and to compare different subjects or different moments pre and post treatment, training, etc. Although it has been validated as a tool to assess time-related variables, few studies assessed its validity compared to a Gold Standard furthermore, its reliability in different perspectives has not been previously assessed.Įach frame was examined by three observers who made two attempts. One interesting tool is that it can measure an object or person passing in front of the camera, taking into account the perspective between the camera and the recorded object. This low-cost technology has been used in sports sciences, as well as in the clinical and research fields.
Kinovea is a free 2D motion analysis software that can be used to measure kinematic parameters. All rights reserved. The minimal data set underlying the study is available at Zenodo DOI: An objective analysis of the human movement can help both clinical assessment and sports performance. Get an accurate idea about any athlete's performance figures with the help of this video analysis software that is specially designed for coaches, athletes and medical professionals. All in all, Kinovea supplies users with a complete solution to video analysis. No error dialogs have been shown in our tests and the app did not hang or crash. Kinovea offers multilingual support, includes a help file with video tutorials, has a good response time and requires a moderate-to-high amount of CPU and system memory. For instance, you can select the time marker format, default image type, speed measurement unit, grid and perspective grid color, as well as modify the default image and video directories and formats, naming patterns and allocated memory for capture buffers. Plenty of settings can be configured from the Preferences screen. In addition, you can display a perspective grid, magnify images, configure a color profile, as well as track paths in the video complete path, a path section around the current image, or a label following the path. So, you can preview clips in a built-in, common media player, add key images, write comments and use some standard graphic editing tools e. Thanks to the Explorer-based folder structure, you can easily navigate directories to locate and access video files. The interface of the program is professional-looking and intuitive. Strava and Golden Cheetah still didn't work.Kinovea is a comprehensive application that primarily aims coaches, athletes and medical professionals who want to analyze videos. So that said, as much as I like my Chromebook, it doesn't seem like it's quite ready for this type of use.Įdit: just a quick update, after enable the NewBlue flag in chrome://flags Rouvy was able to see the Halcyon using BLE and seemed to function properly. I also wasn't able to get Strava to see my trainer, even though Strava on my phone sees it as a power meter without issue. If they had a trial, I would try it out, but they don't so I won't.
The android ANT+ issues would still apply, but maybe it works better with Bluetooth. TrainerRoads is available as an Android app, but it costs money and I haven't tried it out. I think this mirrors what it does on windows, where ANT+ is the only way I could get it to work.
My current trainer (StacZero Halcyon) is seen by the Bluetooth scanning, but shows as disconnected. The Android Apps feature of Chrome OS isn't compatible with the ANT+ software needed. The Rouvy android app runs, and but I'm unable to connect my trainer to it.
OK, so Golden Cheetah does run on a Chromebook if it supports Crostini (Linux Beta), but ANT+ dongles are not detected, and Bluetooth also seems unsupported, so trainer connections are not available.
I think i'm all fulgaz all the time on trainer software and i think i'm just going to go the apple tv 4k route to get the most bang for the buck on that front.
I see the post saying golden cheetah runs on chromebook - is this confirmed - is someone using it?
School says get rid of extraneous programs (rouvy and golden cheetah). I am a teacher and have been using my school (windows) laptop to run training software for years. Fredericknorton wrote:wow - i was searching on google about getting a chromebook and this thread came up!
